FAQ

Perguntas frequentes

What does this password generator do?

The tool creates random passwords with configurable character sets, length controls, and strength ratings.

Can I use generated passwords in production?

The password is drawn with the browser's cryptographic generator and is not sent to any server. For real accounts, store it in a trusted password manager, use a different password for each service, and follow your organization's security policies.

Are passwords sent to any server?

No. Generation happens in the browser and the password is not sent to a server. Still, avoid generating or copying credentials on shared computers.

How is a password assembled?

The tool chooses one character from each selected group, fills the remaining length from the combined groups, and shuffles the final sequence.

How is entropy estimated?

The estimate uses password length multiplied by the base-2 logarithm of the number of available characters in the selected groups; it is an approximation, not a cryptographic audit.

What does estimated strength mean?

It is an indication based on length and selected character groups, not a guarantee against attacks. Long, unique passwords stored in a manager remain the recommended practice.

Who it is for

Create long, varied passwords without making them up on the spot

The generator is for people creating test accounts, needing a temporary password, or wanting to see how length and character variety change the estimated strength.

  • Set the length between 4 and 64 characters.
  • Choose from uppercase, lowercase, numbers, and symbols.
  • Compare the estimated strength of different combinations.
Instructions

How to generate

  1. 1. Adjust the password length.
  2. 2. Check the character groups that should appear.
  3. 3. Review the estimated strength and the generated password.
  4. 4. Copy the password and store it in a password manager.
How it works

Length matters more than complexity

The tool uses the browser's cryptographic generator to draw the characters: it guarantees at least one from each checked group, fills the rest from the combined set, and shuffles the result.

Length

Each extra character multiplies the possible combinations.

A 16-character password is far harder to guess than an 8-character one.

Groups

More groups mean a larger character set.

With all four groups checked, each position has 88 options.

Estimated strength

Calculated from the length and the chosen groups.

It is an estimate, not a test against real attacks.

Verifiable example

A password for general use

With 16 characters and uppercase, lowercase, and numbers checked, the tool's rule rates the password as strong.

Each click generates a different password, so the example shows the settings, not the password.

Limits

Good practices still apply

A strong password only protects you if it is unique and well stored.

  • Use a different password for each service.
  • Store passwords in a manager, not in notes or messages.
  • Generating the password is only one part: also turn on two-step verification when the service offers it.
Caution

Do not reuse the password

If the same password is used on several services, a single leak compromises all of them.
