URL Encoder and Decoder (Percent-Encoding)
Encode special characters for query strings or decode encoded URLs in real time.
- Encode and decode modes
- Encoding of every reserved character
- UTF-8 support for accents
- Warning when a % sequence is invalid
- One-click copy
Encode and decode URL values with instant feedback
Switch between encoding and decoding, paste any value, and follow the result in real time to build links, parameters, and integration tests.
Type or paste a value to transform.
The result will appear here once the input is valid.
Fix the fields to transform the value.
Put text with spaces and accents into a link without breaking it
The encoder is for people building links with parameters, testing integrations, analyzing received URLs, or learning how the web carries special characters.
- Encode a parameter value before placing it after ? or &.
- Decode a link full of % to read what it contains.
- Find out why a parameter reaches the target system truncated.
How to use it
- 1. Choose the mode: encode or decode.
- 2. Paste the text or the URL fragment.
- 3. Read the result, updated on every change.
- 4. Copy the output and place it in the link or target system.
Each special character becomes a sequence with %
Encoding replaces characters with special meaning in URLs, such as space, &, and ?, with %XX sequences, using UTF-8 bytes.
Space and symbols
A space becomes %20 and & becomes %26.
That way the & in the value is not mistaken for the parameter separator.
Accents
Accented letters become more than one sequence.
The ç, for example, becomes %C3%A7.
Characters kept
Unaccented letters, digits, and - _ . ! ~ * ' ( ) stay as they are.
These characters can appear in a URL without encoding.
Encoding a parameter value
In encode mode, the text below becomes a safe value for a URL parameter.
price & shipping
price%20%26%20shipping
Decoding the result returns exactly the original text.
Encode only the value, not the whole link
The tool encodes every reserved character, including / : ? and =.
- If you encode a full address, it stops working as a link; encode only the value of each parameter.
- An incomplete or invalid % sequence causes a decoding error.
- The + sign is not converted to a space when decoding.
