How it works

Single input, four numeric representations

  1. 1. Select the source base for your input value.
  2. 2. Type an integer with or without technical prefix.
  3. 3. The tool validates input and converts everything in real time using BigInt.
  4. 4. Copy your desired base individually or copy all at once.
Where it helps

Useful for debugging, learning, and technical integrations

  • Convert flags, bytes, and masks during software debugging.
  • Check permissions values, payloads, and technical identifiers across bases.
  • Use normalized decimal output for documentation and human comparison.
  • Avoid precision loss with large integers leveraging in-browser BigInt.
FAQ

Summary

What does this Number Base Converter do?

The tool converts integers between binary, decimal, hexadecimal, and octal with real-time updates, validation, and fast copying.

Does the tool accept prefixes like 0x, 0b, and 0o?

Yes. The input field recognizes standard prefixes for hexadecimal, binary, and octal, as well as raw numeric values.

Is there precision loss with large numbers?

Not within integer range. Conversion uses BigInt in browser to preserve large integer values without standard Number loss.

Can I convert negative numbers?

Yes. The tool accepts signed negative integers and produces equivalent representations across all bases maintaining the value.

Who it is for

See the same number in binary, octal, decimal, and hexadecimal

The converter is for computer science students, developers working with colors, bit masks, and permissions, and anyone reviewing values in technical documentation.

  • Convert a decimal number to binary or hexadecimal.
  • Read values with a prefix, such as 0xFF or 0b1010.
  • Check octal permissions such as 755.
Instructions

How to convert

  1. 1. Choose the base of the input number.
  2. 2. Type the value, with or without a prefix.
  3. 3. Read the same number in all four bases.
  4. 4. Copy one base or all of them at once.
How it works

Each base uses its own set of digits

Binary uses 0 and 1, octal 0 to 7, decimal 0 to 9, and hexadecimal 0 to 9 plus A to F. The conversion works with integers of any size.

Binary (base 2)

Prefix 0b.

Each digit is one bit.

Octal (base 8)

Prefix 0o.

Common in Unix file permissions.

Hexadecimal (base 16)

Prefix 0x.

Each digit represents 4 bits; FF equals 255.

Verifiable example

The number 255

With the decimal base selected, enter 255.

Binary
11111111
Octal
377
Hexadecimal
FF

255 is the largest value that fits in one byte: eight bits set.

Limits

Whole numbers only

The tool does not convert fractions.

  • Decimals such as 10.5 are not accepted.
  • Digits outside the chosen base, such as 2 in binary, trigger a warning.
  • Negative numbers are converted with a sign, not as two's complement.
